December 2008- Began completing paperwork to begin adoption #2
January 2009- Decided that our second blessing was going to be from Ethiopia
February 2009- Reapplication paperwork to CHSFS completed, local fingerprints, initial doctor’s appointments for all three of us
4/16/09- Homestudy meeting
May 2009- Dossier completed
Over the next two years, there were many changes to the program including Ethiopia becoming a two trip country, lots of corruption and in turn an increasingly long wait for a child 0-12 months old.
March 2011- Began to pray fiercely to God begging for some strength and direction
3/14/11- Saw Charu’s picture on CHSFS’s WIC list. Called Cory, CHSFS, our social worker, e-mailed the agency and the WIC team. We were told that her file was being reviewed in India at the time.
3/21/11- Was told that Charu’s file was available and that there was a long list of people whom had inquired about her, but that we were at the top of her list.
3/23/11- Accepted Charu’s referral & talked to our social worker about changing our homestudy so that we could move forward with Charu’s adoption.
4/21/11- Homestudy was updated, I-800A sent off to the USCIS
5/10/11- Officially withdraw from the Ethiopia program
7/1/11- I-800A approval
7/9/11- Corrected I-800A approval
7/12/11- Received our first update on Charu
7/18/11- Dossier Fed-Ex’d to Charu’s orphanage
8/12/11- Article 5
8/17/11- 2nd update on Charu
9/29/11- 3rd update on Charu
10/27/11- Verbal guardianship ordered
11/19/11- Leave for India
11/21/11- Meet Charu
11/23/11- Leave SKB with Charu
11/24/11- Medical appointment & TB test
11/26/11- Return medical
11/29/11- Embassy appointment
11/30/11- Arrive back in US and are finally a family of four!
